2012 Nissan Xterra and 2011 Nissan Xterra Review

At present, the SUVs based on unibody design are more popular than the traditional SUVs built on body with on-frame architecture. But it doesn’t mean that traditional SUVs are running out of sales. Though the unibody based SUVs are easier to handle and have good on-road manners, they lack in off-road capabilities severely. That’s why the traditional SUVs are still on top of list for people who have off-road duties frequently in their daily routine. Nissan has brought out its new lineup Xterra at the beginning of this century targeting the adventure-loving younger generation customers. It’s also a perfect vehicle for family ride to go fishing or camping in some remote areas. It might lack in on-road manners in comparison to its unibody based siblings, but for off-road duties it is one of the best mid-size SUVs currently selling in the automobile market. Currently the Xterra is in its second generation which is in the market since 2005. It comes with a 4.0 L V6 engine along with a 5-speed automatic transmission system to transmit power to the wheel. An optional six-speed manual transmission is also available to provide the driver with sporty feeling. This 261 HP producing engine is the only option for powertrain which is quite depressing. Nissan could have offered more engine options to give the customers flexibility with their budget and necessities. It also offers an average fuel efficiency which could have been better if other engine options were available. It also lacks the FlexFuel capability which is required for lower emissions. The Nissan Xterra for sale has three trim levels to offer some variations in its features with different budgets. This has been done to enable people with different incomes to get their best deal. The X trim is Xterras entry level model and the S trim has some additional luxury features. The Pro-4X is solely built for super performance in off-road duties. While the X and S trims have both 2WD and 4WD options, the Pro-4X is available only in 4WD drivetrain. You can have the X trim of this off-road performer by paying around 23,277 USD. The price may increase if you choose S and Pro-4X trims or mount additional features on X trim.
